Task 1 – Growth and development through a life stage

Topic Area 1 is assessed in this task.

In this task you will produce information about a life stage and the factors that have affected an individual.

The life stage for this task is adolescence (11–18 years).

The individual could be somebody you know or somebody who is well-known.

You will need to check with your teacher that the individual you have chosen is appropriate.

 

Task 2 – Life events and sources of support for individuals

Topic Areas 2 and 3 are assessed in this task.

In this task you will need to speak to an individual who has experienced two life events and is willing to talk to you about their experience. The individual must be someone that you can interview. You will produce a report about the impact of these life events on your individual and recommend support to meet their needs.

Before you start, read the requirements of Tasks 2a and 2b. You must speak to your teacher to agree that the individual you have chosen is appropriate. Your teacher will need to authenticate that you completed the interview.

Task 2a – Impact of life events on individuals

Topic Area 2 is assessed in this task.

You should speak to your individual to find out about two life events and the impacts that these had when they happened. Use this information in your report.

  • You must:

Describe two life events that the individual experienced, including the life stage(s) when they
happened.

  • Explain the impacts of one of these life events on your chosen individual at the time it occurred.
    You must consider the following impacts:
    □ physical
    □ intellectual
    □ emotional
    □ social
    □ financial.
  •  If there is no impact for one of the above, you must explain why.
  •  Explain the needs of the individual considering the impacts of this one life event.
  • Include the notes from your interview with your evidence.
  • Take photographs or audio recordings, so that your teacher can confirm that you carried out the interview.
  • Complete the Interview Authentication Form for this task and ask your teacher to sign it.

Task 2b – Research and recommend support to meet individual needs

Topic Area 3 is assessed in this task.

In this task you will research and recommend personalised support to meet the needs of the individual which you detailed as part of Task 2a.

  • You must include the following in your report:

Information about the support that could meet the needs of your individual, considering the following sources:
□ formal
□ informal
□ charities.

  • A recommendation of support to include:
    □ justification of your choices, to include how practitioners/care givers will support and meet the individual’s needs
    □ how you have applied person-centred values.
