Business Case (MLO 4.1 – 4.3)

INSTRUCTIONS

  1. This week, you will read the case, assess the issues within the organization, and make a series of recommendations.The overall objective of this assignment is for you to develop your skills in applying multiple leadership models and theories to practice, and specifically to bring about change…change for the better. Just as if you were to give advice to a team for implementation, your recommendations should draw upon many of our concepts, and your experience, to describe what is happening and how the firm and or its leadership should move forward.

    Case Paper – (6-7 pages plus cover and references) Due no later than midnight Week 4, Day 7. Upload into Blackboard.

    For this paper:

  2. 1) Clearly define the purpose of the paper including a brief description of the institution and the problem(s) that she/he will analyze. Keep this brief. The people you are speaking to know the case and know the organization. What we are interested in are your solutions.
  3. 2) Provide a thoughtful analysis of the problem utilizing various concepts/models and theories studied thus far during the course.
  4. 3) Propose a thoughtful and specific solution reflecting a synthesis of multiple theories with personal reflection.
  5. 4) Support all analyses with content from the Organizational Behavior literature studied. You may use the reading materials as references for this paper. You should have a minimum of three references.
  6. 5) Effectively critique her/his analysis and proposed solution(s). Highlight and possibly mitigate any risks/cons.
  7. 6) Write well and follow APA format. Write a solid introduction that includes these three elements: What is this paper going to be about? Why is this topic important/relevant? What will I learn if I read this paper? Also provide a solid summary, which should include, what are the three most important things the reader should remember about your paper.
  8. * All work submitted for this course must be your own work, must have been developed specifically for this course, and may not have been submitted for evaluation or assessment in any other course.
  9. Cases (CLO 1-5) Business cases provide a setting for us to apply the theoretical models/concepts covered in the course. Business cases will generally have a number of issues that must be addressed. These tend to be stated in the opening paragraph, and in the closing section of the case. Hence, the purpose of this assignment is for you to practice your assessment and application skills. The emphasis for scoring the assignment will be on your recommendations regarding the issues raised in the case. As a result, papers should be designed to introduce the situation, and then immediately present the recommendations, using references, background, rationale, etc. to support your application. Historical events need not be regurgitated in the paper unless the background is necessary.
