Sequence pattern mining has been widely used in a variety of domains like healthcare, education, Web usage mining, intrusion detection, etc. You are required to read Gupta and Han’s research on the possible applications (Gupta and Han, 2013)1 and answer the following two questions (the research paper is available on Canvas).
a) Fill in the summary table below. In this table, you are to give a summary for each of the listed two application domains from various perspectives: data mining objective discussed in the application, data used, the findings or conclusions studied by Sequence pattern mining.
Using your own words to illustrate your understanding, if some details are missed in the paper, reasonable assumptions based on the context are acceptable. You may select one example to discuss if multiple research problems are provided in an application domain. Some applications may propose various sequence pattern mining methods besides the technique we introduced in class. They are not the key to this question, therefore, you may ignore the details of the proposed algorithms.
