Introduction

By this point, you should have a good idea of what your thesis statement will be and the main points that you will make to support your opinion. Now, it’s time to ensure that your sources have the type of information that can be used as evidence to prove that your points are valid.

The concepts and skills presented in the intellipath lessons will help you complete this assignment, specifically the following lessons:

Body Paragraphs
Incorporating Source Information With Your Ideas
Giving Feedback: The Peer Review
Main Post Instructions

Using the outline that you created for the Unit 6 Individual Project, you will share your thesis statement and 3 main points that support the thesis statement with your classmates. Address the following:

Begin your main post with your current thesis statement so that your peers understand the direction of your argument.
Starting with the 3 main points from your outline in the Unit 6 IP and drawing in your work in Units 2, 3, 4, and 5, write 1 paragraph for each of the three main points, for a total of 3 body paragraphs. Incorporate evidence from at least 3 sources from the AIU Library into your paragraphs using APA style in-text citations. Do additional research using the Opposing Viewpoints database if you do not have three sources that you used in the earlier units. You may use sources from the Internet, but at least 3 of the sources must be from the AIU Library.
Keep in mind that your audience may be hesitant to agree with you, so use the information from the sources wisely to show that your opinion is valid. Consider how your point of view addresses the diverse course audience.
Create a References section at the end of your post for each of your three sources, and list them alphabetically. Use the course resources and the APA intellipath lessons to help you format each entry.
Your main post will include your thesis statement, 3 paragraphs with APA in-text citations, and a references section with at least 3 entries.

Use APA Model Citations and References for help to format your work.

Check the Unit 8 IP Template here to see how your Unit 7 main post connects to the rough draft in Unit 8 and your final draft in Unit 10.

Instructions for Peer Posts

It’s important to provide your peers with detailed and constructive feedback so that they can write a stronger argument for the Unit 8 and Unit 10 Individual Projects.

In your replies, provide feedback on your peers’ thesis statement. Explain if you are uncertain about anything or if you think the wording could be improved. Also, provide feedback on the sources that your peers have provided (use the TRAP test for evaluating sources) and the information that they will use to support their opinion. Consider if the information they cite would be enough to convince you that their argument is valid. Provide suggestions on how to improve their argument or sources by referring to intellipath lessons or sources that you have found.

Encourage your peers to look back at a specific intellipath lesson or class resource that will help them improve their thesis statements or argument.
