After the completion of this project, learners should be able to:

  • Describe the essentials of influencing and suggest the use of different influencing styles with reference to the case.
  • Describe the factors that impact the negotiation.
  • Identify and describe the use of counseling and coaching skills with reference to given employee performance-related or conflict scenarios in the case.
  • Recommend appropriate counseling and coaching techniques to HR stakeholders.

Influencing & Negotiation

  • With reference to Robert Cialdini’s Principles of Influence, suggest, with justification, THREE ways to persuade Dennis and his team to utilize their annual leave.
  • Explain TWO factors that would be important to Felicia when negotiating with her HR Director to allow 50% of carry-forward leave.
  • Propose, with explanation, TWO influencing styles that Felicia can adopt to get more support from the employees to utilize the remaining 50% of carry-forward leave by the 1st quarter of the next year.

Counseling and Coaching:

  • Highlight THREE differences between counseling and coaching.
