Chapter 3 contained several figures showing parts of an Excel Spreadsheet. In this lab you will actually use that Excel Spreadsheet to evaluate the impact of different testing approaches. The attached spreadsheet (Test Automation Savings.xlsx) implements the business case analysis discussed in Chapter 3 as follows: Spreadsheet tab “Overall” is the same as Figure 3-1, with the exception that the hourly labor rate, which was not identified in the textbook, is included in this implementation. Spreadsheet tab “Setup” is the same as Figure 3-2. Spreadsheet tab “Development” is the same as Figure 3-3. Spreadsheet tab “Execution” is the same as Figure 3-4. Spreadsheet tab “Evaluation” is the same as Figure 3-5. This model contains the following assumptions: Setup time is the same for both automated and manual Development time is twice as long for automated as manual Execution time for automated testing is 1/20 of manual execution time Evaluation of results for automated testing is 1/10 of manual execution time Your assignment is to experiment with the “sensitivity” of each of the four model assumptions by changing the parameters in the Excel spreadsheet and comparing the results. Be sure to restore the file back to its original status between each set of assumptions. Your submission for this lab should be a sensitivity analysis documented either in chart(s) or graph(s), along with a written analysis describing what you learned from this experiment. Your submission will be evaluated for clarity, organization and accuracy. NOTE: Do not change any cell in the spreadsheet that contains a formula.
